Community guidelines
Last updated November 5, 2026
In short
Be real. Be kind. Respect a no. Keep money out of it. Play fair. If someone breaks these rules, report them: we review every report and act fast. These guidelines are part of our Terms of service and apply on Kindred and when you meet people from Kindred offline.
Be real
- Use your real first name, your real age and recent photos where your face is clearly visible. No filters that change who you are.
- One person, one account. No impersonation, catfishing, fake profiles or shared accounts.
- Be honest about your intentions and your relationship status. If you're married or in a relationship, say so or don't join for dating.
Be respectful
- No harassment, bullying, insults, threats or intimidation, and no repeated messages after someone stops replying.
- No hate speech, slurs or discrimination based on ethnicity, tribe, race, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or nationality.
- Disagree about values kindly. People define their own beliefs here, and no one owes you an explanation for theirs.
- Don't share someone else's messages, photos or personal details outside Kindred without their permission.
Consent comes first
- No nudity or sexually explicit content in photos, profiles or public spaces.
- Never send sexual messages or images to someone who hasn't clearly asked for them, and never share intimate images of anyone without consent.
- “No”, silence, unmatching and blocking are all answers. Respect them, and don't try to reach someone through another account.
Keep money out of it
- Never ask a member for money, airtime, gift cards, loans, Coins or financial details, for any reason.
- No selling, recruiting, sponsorship offers, investment pitches, crypto or forex schemes, or promoting other platforms.
- Don't push people to move off Kindred quickly. Links, phone numbers and email addresses are locked for the first 48 hours of a match for a reason.
Meet safely
- Meet for first dates in busy public places, arrange your own transport and tell someone you trust where you'll be. Safety Share helps.
- Never pressure someone to meet, to go somewhere private, to drink or to take anything.
- Offline behaviour counts. If someone breaks these rules on a date, report it, and contact local emergency services if you are in danger. See the Safety centre.
Play fair
- Games are for fun and connection. No cheating, bots, engine help in live games, collusion or deliberately losing to boost someone's rating.
- Win and lose gracefully. Trash talk stays friendly.
- Don't exploit bugs, Coins or promotions. Report problems instead; we'll fix them.
Share only what's yours to share
- Only post photos and content you own or have permission to use, and only photos of yourself on your profile.
- No violent, graphic, illegal or self-harm content, and nothing that promotes terrorism, weapons or drugs.
- No spam, chain messages, malware or misleading links.
Adults only
Kindred is strictly 18+. Any content that sexualises minors, or any attempt to contact a minor, is reported to the authorities and the account is banned permanently.
Report what worries you
You can report or block anyone from their profile or your chat, at any time, for free. Reports are confidential: the person is never told who reported them. You can include messages as evidence, and you can report something that happened offline.
Please report honestly. Knowingly false or malicious reports are themselves a breach of these guidelines.
What happens if you break the rules
Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content, warn you, restrict features, suspend or permanently ban your account, and block your phone number and devices. Bans also remove access to subscriptions and Coins, as described in our Terms of service. Threats, coercion, scams and anything involving a minor go straight to our critical queue, with a target response of one hour, and we may share information with the police where the law allows.
If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal from the notice you receive. A person on our team reviews every appeal.
